Coach hire Huddersfield

Intro

One of Yorkshire’s best-loved locations, the town of Huddersfield is a hugely popular location for bus hire and minibus hire trips from the likes of nearby cities such as Bradford and Leeds.

History of area

Although technically still a town, Huddersfield has a long and rich history that few UK cities can claim to rival.

Huddersfield, like so many other Yorkshire towns, began steadily as an agricultural centre, before the town’s mills suddenly benefited handsomely thanks to the Industrial Revolution. The ability to produce much more than before thanks to technological innovations helped set Huddersfield and several of their neighbouring conurbations apart and established the town as a Northern powerhouse.

During the Industrial Revolution, the town specialised in woolen products, but since then has become known for its wide range of industries, with everything from traditional areas such as textiles right through to cutting-edge scientific manufacturers.

The town is also the birthplace of two key pieces of British history; both the sport of Rugby League and former Prime Minister Harold Wilson come from the town.

Why visit?

If you’re looking for a quiet bus hire holiday away from the hussle and bussle of bigger cities such as Leeds or Bradford but still with plenty to do, Huddersfield is a fantastic choice. While much smaller than those two areas, Huddersfield still boasts several fantastic museums, including the Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre and the Kirklees Light Railway (which has several working steam engines). There are also spectacular views of the town available from historic Castle Hill and various walks in the surrounding countryside, which has inspired countless works of literature and art over the past centuries.

In town itself, Huddersfield is blessed with several excellent museums, commemorating the town’s past, and you can even visit a statue of the town’s most famous son, Harold Wilson. Thanks to the town’s multicultural makeup, a huge variety of cuisines can be sample, with everything from classic Yorkshire fare of Sunday roasts to exotic dishes from Asia and beyond.

Who location is best for

Ideal for walkers, history fans or those who want a quiet base from which to travel to the bigger conurbations of Leeds and Bradford (from which we also offer coach, bus and minibus hire), Huddersfield is truly a great spot for anyone.

The beautiful countryside that surrounds Huddersfield truly must be seen to be believed!

Nearby locations

As mentioned above, from Huddersfield both Bradford and Leeds are an easy coach ride away, while the Yorkshire Dales, famous for their fabulous views and incredible scenery, are all around, making Huddersfield a walker’s dream location.
